Object Data to Annotation.

How does one create annotation based on Object data? (Map 3d 2010)
The help documentation, under 'Overview of Annotation Templates', says "Use annotation to label objects with data value, such as . .Attributes, such as object data." Then does a splendid job of not telling one how.

I have parcel mpolygons with attached object data in an appropriate object data table. Now I want to have the data show up as text.

(My apologies if this has been asked/answered before, but I really have spent three hours searching.)

And on hour 7 I discovered the passing reference to the "mapanntext" command. That gets me a little further.

Have you gues tried using a background mask with   the mapanntext ? Without using the burst command?
