New serial for expired Home use licence

My Home use license for AutoCAD Map 3d 2011 expired on jan 8.

My application manager provided me with a mail from Autodesk; the existing HULA is extended and amended.

Problem: a diferent serial number.

I found a description of a way to change the serialnumber from within the application, that won't work for me since the application can't be sarted.....

Is there a way to use the new serial on my existing installation (without a reïnstal)?
