MySQL Connection And Editing

dear all autodesk pal,

goodday!
i can create feature and am able to save the data inside shapefile after check-out the data.
however, using the same method, i failed to do so when saving data to MYSQL. every time, after completing the whole line, the line goes missing and nothing created in MYsql database. i don thinnk i made any mistake of creating the line, as the steps should be the same with that of when i edit in shape file.

i would like to know if there is any limitation on Mysql when autodesk map connecting to the database.

appreciate, if any one can throw some light on that.

cheers, bongtk

Try using Map without SP's.

I´ve got other problems with mySQL but this is interesting. If you open the
feature data table, can you edit it manually? Which version of mySQL are you
runing?

hi, lya,

i got the same problem as you facing.
it can't be edited. ya, i'm using mysql 5. u must be the same.
really hope to know what we can fully use mysql for autodesk. to me this is one of the major benefit of autodesk, can access mysql which can't be done by a lot of technology out there. 🙂

Well, i´ve got two problems:

1. The FDO for mySQL doesn´t work, so i use an ODBC FDO and that works (
hope, because i haven´t a geodatabase in mySQL and can´t load anything. But
it connects to the database and show the schema of a not-geodatabase ). I´d
like to KNOW WHY, if it´s a problem in my installation or what...
2. I can use mySQL database as data origin, linking with objects but the
data viewer only opens as read-only, so the only way to write in the linking
tables is entering the data inside property palette. It´s a paradox,
because if you link objects to a data origin ( not as feature ) and you
enter data in property palette, then you CAN ENTER DATA inside the mySQL
tables. Then, WHY the data viewer opens as READ ONLY?

When i have time, i´ll start to desinstall, play with other mySQL versions,
etc.. 😞

hi, lyapunov,

1. i don't know what is the cause of your first problem. my case here is it works for both - odbc and mysql irect connection. my pc is new, install with autodesk map 3d latest version, not the beta. my pc come with 1GB RAM, 2.7GH, i don know whether yours have the same configuration.

2. frankly speaking, i am a new user here. i don understand much what you describe here. so far, i only learn how to connect and display, not linking of objects with mysql database yet. i may need to spend time to try more on it and the workaround that you are talking about.

hope to be able to share more on it after reading more on fdo.

I tried to connect to MySQL. Actualy it works with Autodesk Map 3D 2007 SP2.
It was MS SQL which works only without SP's. But i think "bulk copy" is not
working for me when SP's are applied (i can't try at the moment).

I'm using MySQL 5.0.24 version (localhost), and i'm able to create datastore
using Map. And then i can create features or edit them without problems.

P.S. Mhh, where did you get you version of map? I never seen Map with
preinstalled sp 😞

dear Mindaugas,

the map 3d 2007 is the one that provided by my software supplier less than 1 month ago, which has already came with the preinstalled sp2 inside the installer. i'm using mysql 5.0.24 just like you did as well. since it works at your place, it should work at mine. will try to find out more on that.

thanz for your assistance.
