Mouse cursor/Windows XP issues

I'm having a problem with the mouse cursor in AutoDesk Map 5 on Windows XP Pro. As I move the mouse across the model space window I get trails that follow the cursor and remain on the screen. This occurs when I have not started a command or selected any objects. If i regen the drawing the cursors disappear, but when I move my mouse into model space it occurs again. The screen quickly becomes inundated with cross-hair mouse cursors, rendering the software very difficult to use.

Is this a known bug and are there any patches or fixes for this?

Thank you.

This is a video driver problem. Get the latest video driver
for XP from your video card manufacturer.
