MAPIMPORT .ipf files created in 2008 to 2012

Hello I am new to this forum and with Autocad 2012.

While importing a .dng file using the mapimport option I am having trouble when loading an .ipf file. The Drawing layers do not change after loading the .ipf file as they would if I where to use 2008. The .ipf file was created in 2008 so how do I fix this so that we begin loading our .dng files onto 2012?
