Mapexport failure AutoCad Map 3D

Hi everyone, we're having issues concerning the command MAPEXPORT in autocad. The command seems to be working right until you press the ok button and receive an error message saying it failed. We have tried a lot of things like starting up with a new file, starting over the program and even tried it from another computer. The command responded correctly until three days ago. So please if someone knows what to do, let us know. 🙂

Hi,

welcome @forums.autodesk.com!

What version of AutoCAD Map3D (and what servicepack) are you using?

Does _MAPEXPORT fail only when you use a specific format like SHP or SDF or does that happen with all formats?

Does _MAPEXPORT fail only with that specific drawing or also with any other drawing where you created some sample entities?

>> The command responded correctly until three days ago

And now the question back to you 😉 ... what changed within the last 3 days to your system?

>> receive an error message

Can you make a screenshot of that message (and upload that here) so we see the exact wording?

Hello

Q1) Which release exactly of MAP : 2014, 2013, 2012, etc ?

Q2) Which Service Pack installed on your MAP 201X ?

Q3) Which Windows ? 32 or 64 bits ?

Hi, thank you for answering us,

We are using AutoCad Map 2012 with Windows XP 32 bits,

We haven't tried to use another format because we only use SHP and don't know how to convert the other available formats,

Plus, we also tried to do it with other drawings and it keeps failing unfortunatly,

As for what changed within three days, we haven't noticed any changes but we can't know for sure since we don't have the admin. rights on the office computers.

Also, there is no formal error message, we just see it in the message log down where the command line is.

We sure can do a screenshot of the error but we are working in french... so it says <<L'exportation a échoué>> wich basicaly means <<The exportation failed>> word to word.

Then, when we press F2 button we get the image in the second link.

As for the service pack we really won't know until tomorow because we don't know where to look at to find it, sorry, all of this must look pretty messed up 😞

Hi,

can you try a normal polyline, not a 3D-poly?

>> We haven't tried to use another format because we only use SHP

Even if you need SHP ... to come more close to the source of the error please try SDF as output format.

Hello

So you have a MAP 2012 32 bits on Win XP Pro 32 bits

1) Have you installed the SP2 on your MAP 2012 ?

http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad-map-3d/downloads/caas/downloads/content/autocad-map-3d...

I am almost sure that it is not the solution but it's better !

2) OPTIONS / 1st Tab "Files" / 1st option " Support Pathes"

Have you the specific FDO path :  C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD Map 3D 2012\bin\FDO

3) Can you give us in ZIP format your "providers.xml" file

which is into this specific FDO path ?

4) As said Alfred : have you the problem with A LINE (2D segment) ?

5) Please confirm that with this LINE you can MAPEXPORT in SDF, MIF-MID, TAB formats ?

If it is not top-secret, what are you doing with Map ?

and in which company ?

Waiting ...

Bye, Pat

Hi gentlemen,

Thanks a lot for your support, we somehow manage to make it work,

We've already tried exporting with other tools as line or a simple polyline and it did not work up until this morning,

We've figured out that maybe it was because we were originaly trying to export two different kind of object (a line and a polyline) at the same time and the program wouldn't accept any other exportation after that, but we can't know for sure, we haven't proceeded to any uprgades or changes what so ever so we can't fully understand why it sudently works.

We're a governemental institution called MTQ (Québec's transportation minister) and our division works in order to dress an inventory of our existing roads structures.

So I guess we will keep on going, thanks aggain 🙂

Have a nice day
