Map2008 MySQL and Bulk Copy

Why does bulk copy from SHP to MySQL now seem to crash MySQL server? Do you have to use a 4.x version of MySQL only? Any other ways to convery ArcSDE or SHP to MySQL easily???

As far as I know the MySQL version 5 works in Map 3D 2008. Yes still works
just tried to connect and it worked in 2008 with MySQL 5.0.1.1 client.

I tried everything after coping the the libmysql.dll from the MySQL 5\BIn folder to Map 2008\Bin\FDO all I get is access denied. I have to use the libmysql.dll that comes with the php folder (mapguide open source to even get past that. Where are you getting you .dll and are you putting it in the FDO folder or what. I don't get why I keep get cant conect or bad user/password errors unless I use that certain libmysql.dll but it crashes on bulk copy so either way this sucks.

Hi,

When does Map crash exactly? Before or while doing the bulk copy? Any error messages?
Can you use bulk copy with another shape file / sdf file and MySQL?
Can you crate a datastore in MySQL manually?
Which version of MySQL do you use (supported is MySQL 5.0.22, see: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=8447740)

To answer both questions 2007 was OK for the small testing that I did. With 2008 I am using the newest MySQL 5 available and that gives me login issues. When I use the OLD libmysql.dll login and DS creation works fine. When I get to the bulk copy and prtess start it actually crashes MySQL server. I tried the MySQL 5 and 6. I might have tried 4 but who wants to tell their client to down grade.

Hi,

I recommend to use the version of MySQL, which is supported.

What verison would that be?

as mentioned above:

Thanks must have over looked that detail. I wonder why they didn't make the FDO more dynamic for all versions of MySQL. You would think the login method has not changed that much since 5.0.22, right?
