in the bottom status-line of the application you have an icon (looking like a toothed wheel) and there you can choose the workspace you want to load, a workspace for Map-Classic should be included.
Other chance would be to start the command _WORKSPACE.
BTW: within the classic workspace you do NOT have all commands available in your Map3D!

Thanks for the reply. I set the map classic workspace with no problem, but when I open cad it's back to the 2d drafting workspace. I haven't had this problem in the past. When I finish this current project I'll have to change my ways.

Have a look into the start-icon-properties. You can give the name of the workspace as a startparameter for AutoCAD. Take a look >>>here<<< about the startparameters ("/W" is what you will look for).
