I was going through the samples provided with Autodesk 3D Enterprise 2012 on Creating the Schema i.e 01_CreateSample.
The code provided in this example is about connecting to Oracle and then creating the featureclasses of your choice. But there is no example on creating a File Database with SQL Lite. I prefer to first try to make use of File database to create the schema of my choice and then finally run the same against an Oracle DB.
a) Where is the API reference guide for Map 3D 2012? All i have is a developer guide which gives some examples. It doesnt give exhaustive details on the methods and classes supported by Map 2012.
b) Can anyone provide me with a simple example on creating and connecting to a file based DWT template with SQL Lite?
The objective is to create a schema containing the required featureclasses and Topics.
I tried changing the application plugin code on connecting to Oracle by replacing the ConnectionIdentifier.Oracle to ConnectionIdentifier.SQLLite. I commented the lines on username, password with a line on ConnectionIdentifier.FileName and made it point to a DWT file which i had created using Autodesk Infrastructure administrator. I followed the instructions in creating and (auto)copying the TBP and DLL files.
I opened Map 2012 and created a DWG file using the DWT file(created using Infrastructure Admin) and saw the plugin appearing in the Application toolbar and when i clicked the plugin it opens the SampleForm and finally when i click the button to connect to the DWT i get a message that the connection is closed.
Would appreciate if Autodesk provides more examples at its site on the various tasks that can be done using Autodesk 3D Map. As of now one has to dig a lot and still find very little material available in the Internet.
Creating the SQLite file is pretty straighforward, as long as you are in the Maintenance workspace. Here's a short video (no audio): http://screencast.com/t/ttYreK4AMZ4J that may help.
Note that the connections to the SQLite are created automatically - the file is internal to the drawing.
Thanks for your reply.
What i am planning is this. I have a ESRI filegeodatabase which contains 60+ featureclasses out of which 30+ participate in network.
I have created an XML file of the featureclasses in FGDB and i want to recreate the same first in Autodesk 2012.
As of now i am adopting the following approach.
a) Create an empty DWT template that makes use of SQL Lite database.
b) Create a DWG file that makes use of this template.
c) Create an Topobase application plugin that when invoked opens the XML file and create the featureclasses, topics etc.
At step c) i am encountering problems that the connection to the DWT file is closed.
A similar example exists for enterprise database, but what i need is an example for me to create and modify a 2012 Map DWT file and add the required featureclasses.Obviously the next step would be to use parsec to populate the values.
That was really a good demo.It is informative.
I am aware of how to use industrial templates. In fact i created my own template using Infrastructure Administratior. What i want is to automate the task of creating a DWT with all the required featureclasses.
In short the the very first example of Sample_01 which has been made for Enterprise to be made for DWT. Thats it!
I can't say for sure, as I'm not a Topobase user, but I think that functionality may be separate intentionally - thus the separate Map 3d and Map 3d Enterprise products. You might also get in touch with ADN - there likely is a way to force those connections open programmatically. Good luck!
