Linetypes

I am having some trouble with line types. I am trying to make a line type that shows direction of flow. I went into the acad.lin file and modified an existing line type. I can get it to work just fine if I start a new drawing. However, I have tried loading the exact same line type into an existing drawing and it doesn't display the same. In the new drawing, it looks like an arrow (like it's supposed to) but in the existing drawing it displays a straight line with the arrow points (the carat symbol on the keyboard is what I used) below the line. The same line type scale is used in both drawings. I am currently using AutoCAD Map 2000. The existing drawing in which I am trying to use this particular line type may have been drawn in AutoCAD Release 13. Is there a hidden variable I am missing somewhere or anything else I can try?
Sincerely,

I'm tempted to say it's a symbol issue dependent upon a style being defined
maybe? Just a pure guess, but you might try changing your styles around and
see if it works out....we had the same problem when someone assigned a
height to a zero-height style that i used in a linetype.

Hello Steve,
Save yourself some grief and make your arrow with lines then compile it
into the ltypeshp.shx. Be sure and make a copy of both ltypeshp.shx and
ltypeshp.shp file before you do it. It just takes a few minutes and its
more stable than using a conventional font.
If you've never done this, drop me an e-mail and I'll walk you through
it.

You can also try purging that linetype from the drawing, then reload it.
I've had the same type of thing happen when inventing linetypes, then it
dawns on me that I forgot to purge a failed experamental Linetype with
the same name : ) When you say it works in a new drawing, but not an
older one, that comes to mind..

Cheers..
