lat/longs to RSALo27 in Map5

In Map3 we encountered no problems in transferring global co-ord sys from
"generic lat-longs" to RSA Lo27.

But in Map5, generic lat-long has been replaced by 4 alternate lat-long
co-ord systems. Not one of the new definitions places the drawing objects
correctly. The drawing objects all go to the northern hemisphere.

Where am I going wrong?

Thanks,

Kev.

Hi Kev,

Map 5 uses a coordinate system library written by Mentor Software. I would
check out http://www.mentorsoftwareinc.com/ to see what changes have been
made as far as CS definitions go.

Hi Kev,

The Lat-Long systems haven't been changed since Map 3, but the Lo 29
definition was.

In Map 3, the RSA-LO29 system included the Arc1950 datum with a standard
Transverse Mercator projection. However, this was found to be incorrect.

In Map 5, there is another method of defining the Lo systems using the South
Orientated Transverse Mercator. Hopefully, this is the source of your
problems.

If you could send me a test point (e.g. lat 30deg S, Long 20deg E), and the
expected result, I'll see what I can find.

Cheers,

Thanks for the feedback Dave. If I mirror the Map5 queried objects
(transferred from LatLong GCS to Lo27 GCS) along the Y axis of WCS, then
mrror along the X axis of WCS, the final mirrored objects are exactly the
same position as queried in Map3 - correctly positioned. The RSA Lo GCS
definitions in Map5 are producing northern heishpere results. That is,
unless someone at autodesk or mentor has decided that we should be showing
North direction as heading directly South in RSA. The Y WCS co-ord is always
negative as we are south of the hemishpere - or has this law been altered?

Thanks again,

Kev.
