How to display sum of values from the data table in my drawing?

I'm connected to a SDF data source which contains a numeric field in the data table. I want to sum up the values in this field and display the result in my drawing. I know how to get the total value by exporting to Excel etc. but I want the displayed value to automatically update in my drawing as the data changes.

I found "Aggreate Options" in the Help but I can't work out where to use these functions - when I try to add one of them to the Expression Builder I get "undefined property".

I get the same thing in Map 2011 64bit.

Not very useful when they dont recognize their own commands.

I got the same problem in AutoCAD MAP3D 64 bit verion SP1.
