Fatal Error when connecting to SDF

In the last week, I have started experimenting with SDF files. Today, AutoCAD MAP 3D 2009 has crashed everyime I try and import a SDF file that I have created from a layer in a different drawing.
Have other users experienced fatal errors when using SDF files or Is it a problem with SDF files or AutoCAD MAP 3D 2009?
