Export pipe network to shp file

Does anyone know if it is possible to export a pipe network created in Civil3D (2010) to a shapefile. I have tried the 3D map export command, but it does not recognize the pipes as one of the options (point, line, text, polygon). Any help is appreciated.

Export the pipe network to a SDF file first (from C3D export Civil objects to SDF).
