Export did not succeed

Working in Autocad Map 3D 2008.

I'm trying to export some blocks w/ object data to a shapefile. Error message is "Export did not succeed." ... very informative! I've also tried without attaching attributes, going to SDF, restarting the computer, repairing my installation. Nothing has worked. Any suggestions as to why Mapexport is broken now?

Thanks!

Are the locks standard blocks or the dynBlocks? Have you tried to export to
another folder, prefer empty and closer to the host drive, and you did
select Point Type as the export correct?

Hi Murph,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I've tried other folders. Standard blocks I use all the time. I've tried not attaching the object data, and I've tried just picking one, instead of all the objects. And I'm using Point type.

Its very strange, as I've used this a million times in the past.

Thanks, -jm

Did you do an audit on the dwg?
There's always the old way...... MAPEXPORT4 on the command line.

Standard Map3d or LDT or Civil3d running as map?
Did you do a recent windows update?

Map 3D. I tried out Map 2007 and the export worked just fine from the same drawing.

I'm checking the MapExport.ini file to see if anything is set up funny.

Checking my acadmap.log file ... there are a bunch of entries from this morning, all pretty much alike. The only difference among them is the Handle ID. Example below:

AutoCAD Map Error : 1 - Can't perform datum conversion.

AutoCAD Map Error : 1902 - Can't transform object.
Diagnostic parameters:
LWPOLYLINE - handle A1E

Looks like there is an object (point type) way outside of the coordinate
systems extents. Does a zoom extents zoom way out? Turn Qtext on and zoom
extents there may be a null text object out there in wonderland.

Negative on that one. I'm going to take a look back at my DLLs. I was trying to get FDO support for PostGIS working, and I may have changed the shapefile prodiver as well. I wonder if that may have done it?

I am having the exact same problem.

Yesterday it was working. Now I get the Export did not succeed message.

I am using Map 2009.

Any solutions?

Hi, I've had this problem several times in Autocad Map 2008. It seems every time I try to set up an FDO for postGIS, my Mapimport/Mapexport gets screwed up. I either have to do a full re-install (usually fixes everything), or a repair (fixed import the last time, but export is still busted).

I couldn't begin to explain why, but its a pretty annoying occurance.

I'd imagine the FDO connections work better in 2009. Anyone else have similar experiences?

Thanks, -jason m.

Hey. I just had some "Export did not succeed" messages. Tried a bunch of things, then read this thread and mapexport4 worked, then through map tools export saving to another folder worked and now the map-tool-export works to the folder I initially targeted.....don't know why it worked but it did....

AutoCAD Map 3D 2010
We were having the same issue "Export did not succeed"
We successfully used MAPEXPORT4 but couldn't select all of the object data from multiple tables.
The very next command we used was the standard MAPEXPORT. We chose all of the data we initially wanted and it worked.
I guess we had to teach Map how to do it the old way before it would have the confidence to do it the new way?!?!

AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010

Same problem here. "Export did not succeed."

Turns out the issue was trying to export to a folder that was too crammed with other files. Created a new folder, exported to that, and it worked.

I went through all of this last week. I don't want to blame Map2011 but my shape export stopped working (in 2010 and 2011) right after after installing it.

I tried re-installs of all my Autodesk and ESRI products but couldn't get it working again. I finally had to do a complete, clean uninstall of all ADESK stuff and then put Map2011 back on to get my shape export back. It seemed a little heavy handed to me but in a mixed Autodesk/esri shop I had to get it working again.

After recently installing Map3D 2012,  "Did not Succeed" happened to me.

Thanks to seeing a post on this thread, I tried creating a new folder with nothing in it... then it magically worked!

Lol ToddC, same here. worked fine once i went to a new folder.

Using Civil 3d 2012, had the same problem. Folder cluttered with other shape files can't be exported to for some reason!! what the hell.

Additionally mapexport sucks at exporting closed polygons!
