different properties for points on different layers?

Dear fellow users, I am quite new to this so please forgive me and correct me if I do this wrong.

I have imported several sets of data points into a drawing, using a script and the commands MULTIPLE POINTS. Each data set is on its own layer and has its own color. Now I would like for each data set to have its own size and shape for the points, as well as its own color. But every time I change the shape (PDMODE and PDSIZE) for points on one layer (using the menu commands Format -> Point style or any other method), the shapes for the points on the other layers change, too, no matter if the other layers are locked.

The next question is, am I in the right place to be posting this question? This must be a question that someone else has posted somewhere, perhaps I could seach an archive of questions somewhere rather than asking you good people to repeat an explanation you have already made?

Thanks,

eliza

PDMODE and PDSIZE act on the entire drawing.

You can control the colors independently but that
is all.

To do what you want you will need to use
blocks.
