Data Connect bug ?

Seems there a bug with with the data connect if you crash while using it. I
was connected to a folder with shp files in it (1 line, 1 polygon) Checked
out an line object to edit and crashed. Reboot the computer from a complete
shut donw power off and all. Go back in to try to connect to that same
folder causes a crash and a CER to fire off. Try renaming/copy the folder
same thing happens. I can connect to the one shp file ok but no matter what
way I try to connect to the file that I was editting want to connect. Used
Arc explorer and was able to open the file that map refuses to connect with.
So there must be a link, file,line of code or something in Map somewhere
that will not reset after a bad connection.
