What version of MAP?

You can do it a couple of ways, either with a
custom app VBA/Lsp or the simple way that might work is by exporting the blocks
to an ESRI shp file. Then import that shp file in assigning data to object data
table. You might need to redefine the block with out attribute prior to the
import.

how about the generate links command.  doesn't
that take block attributes and convert them to OD?

You might be able to use Map/Database/Generate
Links... Be sure the field names in the object data table are the same as the
tag names in the block & select Create Obkect Data Records instead of Create
Database Links.

Yes if you have the MAP6 or maybe even MAP5 but I
dont think it was in MAP4.

Also you need to define the table letter for letter
on the block attribute tags.ie. Road_name is not the same as Road_names

I would love to have that VBA routine as well! I started that other thread "VBA routine to convert attributes to text" but never got anywhere with the routine. Check out that thread...

You can start by looking here:

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Autodesk Map 6\Sample\VBA\MapSample.dvb

There is an exmaple of creating OD based on Acad properties, but you can
modify it to use Attributes.

I've managed to write a routine that can do what I
need. If you want a copy email me
