convert shape file feature id to autocad text

I am working with a country grid shape file that has 2994 grid numbers. I am trying to convert the shape file to an autocad image. However, about one-third of the feature ID's do not save into the new autocad drawing. Is there a way to just select a portion of the shape file to convert into a drawing? Or just convert all the feature id's and not the grid shapes?

Hi,

I would (one of many possible ways):

  • use command _MAPCONNECT to connect to the shape.
  • then modify the stylization so the text with the id's show up
  • and last but not least save the map as DWG

So what way have you tried?

You could bring in just the numbers as text: http://screencast.com/t/R425WIxOv1

Otherwise, could you give more details on the process that you are currently using to make an "autocad image"?

Along with Nates's answer you can do a spatial filter when you import and import just the area you need instead of the whole area of the shp file.

You could simply install the virtual printer "TIFF uncompressed", then plot to the file by window.
