Import the SDF with OD then export to SHP format.
(Quickest way)

Open a new blank dwg, import the sdf file and allow it to create the OD
table from the attributes, then turn right around and export the autocad
objects to SHP allowing it to create attributes data from the OD tables
created when the SDF was imported.
Four simple steps.
Mapimport (select the sdf file)
Create OD data "Data column"
OK
Mapexport (name the shp file) and pick the data type (lines,
points,polygons)
Select attributes on the data tab and pick the OD table.
OK

I just try it again in less than 2 mins of work.

if you are using SDF3.0, FDO load the SDF
then create an folder and SHP connect to the folder
bulk copy the SDF to SHP.
limitation is that only single type of geometry: point, line, polygon, and single feature class is supported in SHP
