Can AutoCAD Map 2000 files be opened in AutoCAD 2000

I have some GIS Sections DWG format files which are AutoCAD MAP 2000 files with object data. Can I open and edit these files in AutoCAD 2000. Can somebody tell me about the Object Data in AutoCAD MAP files.

AutoCAD MAP Object Data is part of Autodesk ADE (Autocad Data Extensions) You either need Map3D or custom programing with plain AutoCAD to edit the data. You can edit the geomety with AutoCAD but not the data attached to those objects.
