autodesk map 3 and labeling

I have imported arcview files and can select a street see the name via the
object data/edit object data. how do i get the names of the streets to
display. Can I auto matically label them?

Automatically; NO. You have to jump through hoops via attaching the DWG file and then querying the features while instructing Map to modify the queried objects.....never mind. Oh, but you can use Map to "collaborate" with your "Design Team" over the Internet. Who needs REAL GIS tools, anyway?

Hi Heath,

You can not automatically label your objects during import, but once the SHP
file has been imported into Autodesk Map, you can run a query to label your
drawing objects with the object data. Please see
http://support.autodesk.com/getDoc.asp?id=TS59497 for steps to follow. You
will only need to examine the first half of this solution (steps 1-12). Once
you have defined the query, you can save it and run it whenever you need,
without having to redefine.
