Upgrading RAM is the easiest and the cheapest thing, we could pump it up to 12GB on this MB. But we'd be happy with 2012 if we could make it work.

OK, the reason why I asked was that I searched for this string from your message:
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\WinSxS\amd64_microsoft.vc90.mfc_1fc8b3b
...and there are a lot of messages (most I found happen on Dell), and it seems like this message is not only appearing for AutoCAD. It starts with reinstall new drivers up to defect files on harddisk.
I'm not sure at the moment (to less info), but maybe it's the best way to reinstall your pc. But let's first wait for other opinions.

I meant Windows-reinstall, not AutoCAD Map3D. I think it's more hardware-depending than you could repair with a Map3D-reinstall (just a feeling).

I search for the words shown above in the error message, checked a few links that Google returned for this message and for what I scanned roughly my feeling was that most had a Dell having the problem.
And I didn't say it's a problem of Dell, I requested it because that might be an option of where to search more detailed.
Anyway, I'm not sure (or better I don't think) that it is a problem based on Map3D. All threads showing this error have some problems with interfaces between hardware and os, so either the driver or the hardware itself are listed as reasons (again: in the threads I scanned with a fast eye).

Ok, that makes me more sure you have either a hardware- or a driver-issue or there is any software installed creating conflicts with Map3D or DLL's installed by Map3D.
It seems that my help now ends (as long as I don't have direct access to this pc). I would now start
a) installing Windows7
b) let it update whatever it finds as necessary Servicepacks
c) install AutoCAD Map3D
d) install AutoCAD Map3D servicepack
e) check it's functionality
....as long as it's working install the next software-packages you have to install - and after every package retry Map3D

Dearest Antonio. To satisfy your curiosity, I shall delve into Fountains of Computing Knowledge. The silky matter that connects software and hardware is called drivers, and besides the Driver Forest, it is found in almost every computer in the existence. So this could be a driver issue, and that is even one of several likely explanations.
Please don't hesitate to ask more questions, I will answer as soon as I find time.
one addition to my "how would I start now"-message:
It may be important to not start with the pc's delivered "Reinstallation Disk" if you have one. Because that would reinstall the same drivers you had.
Also try to not use the driver cd's/dvd's you already used for installation of the drivers, Instead try to get current ones (or even older ones) from the wwww.
