ACAD PROXY ENTITY

Hi all

New to all this lol
Wondering if anyone has had any experience with proxy entity's before? I have received a survey in dwg format and all the data points are showing as "ACAD PROXY ENTITY". theses entities have no property values and can NOT be deleted. I wish to copy the file they are in break it up into separate files and want to delete the points in the newly created files.
Can someone tell me how i can delete these proxy bloody entities lol
Cheers Lloyd

The points are from either Civil3D, Land Desktop, or some other custom
application. You have a few choices to use. 1. Ask who ever provided the dwg
to provide it as a standard dwg with the proxy objects as AutoCAD objects.
2. Try to explode the proxy objects. 3. Try the aectoacad command. 4. Attach
the dwg to a new dwg and query in everything but the proxy objects. 5. Run
the -purge command (notice the hyphen) after trying all the others.

Thank you for help.
What i did was rund the survey through 12D then imported back into autoCAD, which made the Proxy Entity's just peices of text and also retained it's original layer's. This was the only way that would work without having to ask the surveyor to re-produce the survey. Cheers
Wish there was just something simple to explode them.

Hi all,

The easiest way I found to deal with the ACAD PROXY ENTITY problem is just to select the item and type explode.

After that you will be able to copy or edit as normal.

My method: Using the WBLOCK command, create a new file containing all the entities of the file in question, using 0,0 as the insert point. What this does is take everything but the Proxy Entities and create a new file with them, as the proxy entities are unable to even be copied. Close the original, and open the new file and you will have your file, minus all the proxy entities.
