OK I'll share what I have learned. ADEDRAWINGS still recognizes a space as
an enter. So any long path or file names with a space will kill the command.
Either the full path or the Alias will work if there are no spaces. The
easiest way is, if there are no duplicate drawing names in different paths,
is to use wildcards. In my example below *tops25 would activate that drawing
or multiple drawings of that name if duplicated in other paths/aliases. *25
will activate all drawings that end in 25.
Warning: Nested drawings of the same name will cause the command to
malfunction. If the command encounters a nested drawing it will issue an
error message:
Message #2: The other entry of the drawing has already been activated.
STONYPOINT:\tops25.dwg
Nested level : 0
Message code: 1503.
The drawing not nested will show as activated if you do a list from the
command line:
?/ATtach/DEtach/ALias/Activate/Deactivate/Settings/: ?
Current alias:[\directory]: AERIALS: = D:\JessupNoBak\2000 Data
Drawing names to list<*>:
Drawing name Description Active
Nested
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----
STONYPOINT:\tops25.dwg Yes
But will not show as active in the Project Workspace.
You can't Query the drawing even though it is listed as active. A DWK file
is created so you will have to Deactivate the drawing from the command line
(remember it show as deactivate in the Project Workspace) before it can be
reactivated.
Make sure that any attached drawings that contain nested attachments of the
same drawing is deactivated before using wildcards.
Hope this helps someone.
