What is Autodesk Data Extension

I have a drawing which when i open in Civil 3D and see the properties window of certain objects, they show me some additional information which opening the same drawing in AUTOCAD does not show. Also, i searched the internet and found that we can get the additional information of the entity in Civil 3D from "ade_odgettables". My queries :- 1.) Why does the additional information shows in Civil 3D and not in AUTOCAD ? 2.) What is the meaning of function "ade_odgettables" ? Is it part of LISP, VISUAL LISP or anything else ? Also I could not find any Autodesk documentation for the same. Is there any such help / documentation ? Thanks.

Hi,

some features - such as object data - are only available in certain AutoCAD verticals. Object data only in Map (and Civil as Civil comes with a subset of Map).

There are a few commands in Map all starting with "ade" - just have a look and try them out. You can create tables, attach tables to objects, use table data to create thematic maps, labels, .... They should be well documented in Map (Civil) help.

In terms of software development - I think nearly all APIs (Lisp, .Net, C++) support object data.

Here are a few links related to Map object data:

Hello from France

--- History ---

The very old ADE module was a new option with ACAD R12 (1994) and comes from the purchasing of a specific development from Landmark ...

This module module was delivered on 3 1.44 Mb diskettes

This module was retired from the Autodesk price list en 1998 because it was integrated in the first ACAD MAP : ACAD MAP R1 (based on ACAD R13)

ACAD MAP R1 was the worst MAP - Idem for ACAD R13 ...
