What's the best solution?

I'm running '07 LT. I work with another drafter. What's the best way for me to do updates on his drawings. Example. He created the outlines of elevations, now I'm going to add detail to them. Do we do a copy and paste? or should I use X-Refs? XRefs seem better, but I'm not familiar with them. Thanks for the help.

If he needs to be able to edit and change the outlines without having to
deal with your additions, Xref is the way to go.

Xref is nothing more than a Block that is not actually in your file but you
can see it, move it, copy it and scale it etc. The benefit is if the file
changes, any and all copies in your file get updated automatically.
