WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AUTOCADD LT AND THE FULL VERSION OF AUTOCADD

Does anyone know what the main differences are between the full version autocadd and Autocadd LT. My company is considering puchasing a package, and we need to make sure that if we decide on Autocadd LT that it will not limit the functions we would want. This is an roof engineering firm, and I think the full version would be necessary. Please help

Download the trial version and test it out for yourself,
it's the only way to truly find out. Free for 30-days, take
it out for a spin.

version AutoCAD:

You may not be doing trusses but I think you need to look at
the software the Truss Plate Institute provides or talk to your
local truss manufacturer about who to contact.
There are some proprietary roof design packages avalaible
to the commercial user that might fit your needs.
I've not used full AutoCAD but I suspect there are better
add-ons if not integrated roof design capabilities available.

Are you currently finding that using Autocadd LT is sufficient for the roof design work that you do? In our company we basically go through roof plans, and detail designing, using the AutoCadd LT 2005. We do not use trusses much.., but where I used to work (civil engineering) I used a full version of autocadd, and I know that with the full version you have better level, layers management. Let me know how sufficient you currently think LT is? I appreciate your feedback :smileyhappy:

It works well for me and I have spent several years
developing methods and details that I can use for varying
situations. This you would probably need to do regardless
of the program.
The others I mentioned are going to show 3-D modeling of
the roof as well as provide calculations for such things as
uplift, thrust, deflection, etc...
Full AutoCAD will provide that 3-D modeling; LT will not.

I have worked in civil engineering for many years and have used the full version of AutoCad & also AutoCad Lt. AutoCad is great for 3d drawings. But you can also do 3d drawings in AutoCad LT but with alot less functions. If you are going to be drawing plans to print onto paper I recomend AutoCad Lt.
