While the 6200 is not a very current card, the Pentium D is probably
where you are suffering most. The videocard is insignificant for 2d as
long as you have one with its own memory. Shared memory is the real
killer since it not only steals from the amount available, but also
slows down all memory usage.
The Pentium D was a poor concept. Basically just a stopgap since AMD had
a dual core and Intel needed to get one to market in a hurry. It is
basically 2 chips on one piece of silicon that don't talk to each other
except through the slow front bus, and to make it worse, the 2 chips
were bad chips to begin with.
What version of ACAD are you using that your file size is so big? Are
you using a version with the notorious layer filter issue that expanded
your file size unnecessarily till drawings were 20 times original size?
Are you purging out unused blocks, layers, styles etc? Are you inserting
enormous image files? Usually by the time that a file is that big you
are suffering stability issues.
Generally, if you are routinely running into that high a file size, you
are either doing something wrong or are doing things that are usually
intended for a vertical package, not LT.
