Upgrading my 2002 LT to a newer version.

I have AutoCad LT 2002.  If I purchase AutoCad 2010 or 2012 will they be compatible? Will I be able to open my 2002 drawings?

Thanks for any help.

Newer versions of AutoCAD LT can ALWAYS open older files.

But why buy 2010 or 2012? The current shipping version is 2013, and (if history is any indication) there will be an even newer version out in a few weeks.

Are you looking to buy "used" software by chance, LT2010 or LT2012?

My understanding is that generally, Autodesk licenses aren't transferrable as a legitimate used software purchase, unless one company acquires them in an acquisition of another company, yesno?

If by some odd chance my nattering was useful -- that's great, glad to help. But if it actually solved your issue, then please mark my solution as accepted 🙂

I just saw that an older version, which is still newer than my version, is still cheaper than 2013.  I'm not only his drafter, but his bookeeper as well.

Not if there's a liscensing issue.

Correct: that's why I asked for a clarification.
