Unusual Hatching Behavior

I evidently inadvertantly changed something...When I hatch anything, whatever creats the hatch boundary becomes part of the hatch. If I try to erase the hatch then all the items it touches are erased also. It's like everything becomes one big group.

A bit more about this: It seems to be if the Assotiative hatch option is used to create the hatch, then if I erase the hatch all the drawing objects that border the hatch are erased also, unless I individually deselect every tiny individual line. This hasn't happened before with associative hatch patterns, the hatch entities were always seperate from the drawing entities.

How can I get the standard hatch behavior back?

Thanks,

m

OK found it.
Something (yep I didn't do it) changed the pickstyle from 1 to 3.
Changing it back to 1 fixed the associative hatch problem.
It would be nice to know what triggers these out of the blue changes.
