unable to select multiple objects

I've been having trouble selecting more than one object with the pointer. the program was just reloaded on the computer, but this problem has happened multiple times now. everything will work fine for a while, then suddenly, when trying to select objects during a command, i can only select one. (ex. trying to copy multiple lines, i can only select one to copy at a time). i'm just trying to understand why this may be happening and if anyone else has had this problem. thanks for you help!

PICKADD variable, needs to be on. Explore it in HELP.

Try this - in autocad go into tools pulldown , go to options then the selection tab and check that the "use shift" option isnt ticked. Its strange but we've noticed that very occassioanally this will somehow become selected even though the user hasnt actually gone in there and done it themselves.

Quite a few of us had it happen here just after we upgraded.
Its just something that seems to turn itself on every now and again. Good news is after a couple of times it seems to stop doing it - well Ive not had to sort it out here for anyone for a while now.
I hope thats of some help.
Stu.

I believe what happens when you open the properties dialog box you will see
3 buttons on top. One of these is for the Pickadd variable, sometimes this
can be selected by mistake to close down the properties dialog box,
therefore setting the Pickadd variable to 1

Spot on Patrick - that makes total sense and as you say its very easy to do. I'll look like a real voice of authority when I explain that to everyone here - Thanks.
Kind Regards Stu
