Unable to save

i have a user using LT 2007 and he is getting the below error message.

"Unable to save to drawing "\\Path\drawing name.dwg. Drawing saved to "\\path\sav2a.tmp"

i have reinstalled the software but it did not change the outcome. this seems to only do this on one particular server. we he saves the file to his c drive there are not problems. this just started today.

thanks

Your user either has no full write-access to the one server or folder,
or the server times him out which breaks the constant connection
autocad needs and assumes the destination is gone.

no this is not the case. this user has always had access to the folder on the server and he is the only one out of about 15 other engineers that is experiencing this problem. this just started all of a sudden. also the tmp file is saved to that same location. if he did not have access this tmp fie could not be saved.

thanks

If the problem is one user out of 15, it's not the app: try the basics,
empty the user's Windows Temp folder, check the NIC card, cable connections,
HUB/Switch port changes, what changed in the user's setup "all of the
sudden" like tweaked settings/Windows Profile/ Added or deleted or upgrade
software unique to the user etc.

AutoCAD is very basic in it's requirements: complete access all the time or
it does what you report in your first post: regardless of where the temp
file is, at the time of the error message the connection was broken. Find
out why it broke, it's not easy to figure out sometimes.

no i do not agree with this. the connection is not broken when i can surf the internet before and after the user tries to save. the connection is not dropping and the user has access to this folder. if the connection was dropping then the tmp file would not be located on the network drive.

Tis true, happens here too. Just one of those things, nothing digital
is perfect.

after testing more i have been able to shorten down the problem. it only happens when you click the disk icon to save as the same file name or do a save as the same file name. this does not happen when i do a save as and rename the file. for example if i add a 1 or 2 at the end of the name it works fine. it is only when i use the same name as the original. i again confirmed that this user has complete rights to these folders on the network to make changes. i was able to delete the test1 file i created without issues using the users account login.

this seems to be a problem with the software. we have uninstalled and reinstalled this software twice and confirmed his user rights twice. please test this. i am attaching a file for you to test with. the user is using LT 2007 with service pack 2.

Your file is fine, I can overwrite it as you describe in LT2007.

well i have also been experiencing the same problem on a machine running ACAD2006 LT after i installed a NAS. It is only in one machine that the file saves first as a sav*.tmp along with a filename.dwl file and only on the second save does it save it as a dwg file...I have not been able to pinpoint to the cause of this problem...this does not occur if i save on a local drive...the folder that i am saving on is not read only...does any one have a solution...thanks

Ask them for assistance as well, I'm sure you are not the only customer with
the problem.

Hello all,

I may seem like an old grunge but way back when we used to tweak the ISAVEPERCENT to avoid these kinds of problems. Ie. set it to 0. ISAVEPERCENT explained in detail:

Cheers,
