UCSFollow defaults to 0

I have come across a strange problem in LT 2007 (just checked and it is still an issue in LT 2008)

Create a new ucs in model space, set ucsfollow to 1
Select a paperspace layout, enter modelspace through the vp - ucsfollow is set to 0 (default)
go back to the model tab - ucsfollow is set back to 0

This happens even if you merely select a layout tab and go straight back to MS - the ucsfollow variable is defaulting to 0 in modelspace. Bizarrely, It appears to save the ucsfollow setting in a maximised viewport no problem.

DUCS is not the cause as this is not in Lt.
I have tried to create the problem in full ACAD and cannot - it only occurs in Lt.
Any ideas?
