Text Distortion

I have a very annoying problem that when I move text in any way other than orthagonolly the text written in that object becomes thicker and clumsier. Any clues?

TTF windows fonts do that when you change their Z elevation height to anything other than 0 (zero).

SHX fonts do not have this issue.

You can use Properties command to change the Z setting: don't let your low Units precision setting fool you into thinking it already is set to 0.

Thanks a million for that.  Do you know where I can get hold of shx fonts for free?

More than likely you already have many SHX text font files on your system.  Simply go to the Text Styles manager (STYLES at the command line) and look thru the Fonts list.  Any that you see there with the .shx file type are the ones you're looking for.  Examples include romans, romant, and many others.  If it doesn't have a TT symbol in front of it, it's probably an SHX.
