Sorry, no quick fix here, but...

Is it always the same text that prints wrong? It could be your plotter, plotter settings, text style, CTB, PC3, etc. The problem could be one or a combination of these.

Can you give more infomation?

jholt...thank you for your reply..ok here goes..... properties for text....same font same thickness...same layer same everything....
when we plot we just did its line weight set..and even did no line weights and it still did the same thing...

What do you mean by same "thickness"? This generally refers to a Z axis dimension, not a line weight.

Is the text single line or multiline. If multiline, you can change the color of just part of it. It might look the same as the rest, but BE different.

Ok...so how do you check to see if it is a multi line...in properties under general theres thickness....first it said one was 1" then the other said 7 feet...!!!!!!! now both say 7' but they are showing different thickness.... one looks normal the other looks bold... and no bold is not activated..(hahahaha)

sorry for being a pain..iam ready to throw the computer...
the girl that did this copied and pasted from and old drawing could this be a problem????

Could it be you have an LWEIGHT setting assigned to one and not the other? Set both to DEFAULT. Do you plot with CTB or STB? If STB, make sure the correct plot style setting is assigned. TTF fonts don't have such issues, too late to switch? -- Dean Saadallah Add-on products for LT http://www.pendean.com/lt --

Thank you both for your help....- ctb says plot at specified line weight..which is at default... but still doing it.....i don't know:-( even if we do with non..it still does it...iam at a lost...tif i don't see anything...so i don't think it is that....any other last min suggestions would be great... but iam running out of time...but thank you once again for your time

In your rush to 'fix' it, you are ignoring everything else we are all posting. LWEIGHT is a command and a setting, look up usage in HELP then try suggested fix in my post. Also consider a switch to TTF for your 7foot high text, it would look better than SHX. -- Dean Saadallah Add-on products for LT http://www.pendean.com/lt --

If it is MTEXT, go into the editor (double click the text), highlight the text and reselect the style that it should be. This should reset any style overrides that may have been set. -- Daniel J. We are having the same issue. If i create two identical boxes of text then move one of them it often changes slightly. It goes slightly bolder. the same apllies to door and window tags (In ADT) and dimension strings. I can fix the text by going into properties, setting the z value to 10 then setting it back to 0. I have to do that for each one. Can't fix dimensions like that though, the only way appears to be to do them again.

ADT and full AutoCAD, but not LT, have OSNAPZ variable to control the
problem.

I have the same problem often. Can even copy some text and edit the wording and it will have a slightly bolder look to it. Just enough for it to look horrible. On the atthachment, all the larger text is exactly the same in every way. What is up with this

Message 13 of 19

Post your drawing if you can or WBLOCK a piece of it that has the issue and post

Usually Text varying in thickness is due to the Text being at an elevation; i.e. something other than Z=0

In LT you can Flatten it using this Macro placed on a button:

-Flatten Z coordinate:
^C^C_move;_all;;0,0,0;0,0,1e99;_move;_p;;0,0,0;0,0,-1e99;

Or is the text coming from another computer and maybe the Fonts are not identical?

Double Click your text

-> the button calls " Clear"

after that click on the small triangle and select -> Remove Character Formating

Thanks for sharing your suggestions. This thread is a little old so I don't think the OP will be back. But I'm sure other users will find it helpful.

I work with Civil 3D and this problem occurs on this program when texts are not at the same Z. So texts that are higher appear bolder and lower texts appear thinner.

Maybe you could check this out.

Other than that I wouldn't know.

Cheers.

Try going into the text block and selecting each portion of text.  Make sure that in the text editor area above that everything is set to "by layer"

Thread is quite old, but I wanted to mention a solution for the same issue that happened to me:

Each of my mtext/text boxes had all the same properties, same style same color same everything, and I knew this was true not only because I had checked the properties box but also because I had just gotten done copying each of these mtext items with an Array command! How are they printing different?!

It turned out that I had accidentally set the Z rise of the array command to 1 units instead of 0 units, so each of the text items were a different height off the paper. (And AutoCAD was making the higher ones slightly bolder - I suppose it was trying to give them the illusion of being closer to my face.)

Normally one would have never noticed that mistake in a 2-D drafting setup, but when I had exhausted looking for other solutions and I was checking the properties of them again, down towards the bottom it said "Position Z = *Varies*". A-ha!
