Strange behaviour with commands entered by keyboard

I know there's some smart guys reading these boards so hopefully one of you
can help me out 🙂

I'm having trouble with strange responses from LT when entering commands via
the keyboard.

For expample, I want to draw a line, I type "L" then hit the space bar. If I
do this too quickly I get another "L" appear on the comamnd line in the next
prompt for the line command e.g

LINE Specify first point: L

I have to delete the "L" before i can click my first point. It also happens
if I use ENTER instead of Space bar. If I type slower this doesn't occur. OK
I can probably slow myself down and live with this, but it's still annoying,
esp. considering I didn't have any problems with 2005 which I was using
previously.
Tried with a few other typed commands and same problem only seemed to happen
when typing "D" (for DTEXT).

But then it gets worse 😞

So I eventually manage to get my LINE command started ok and I click for
first point, then I want to snap PERP to an existing object.
So I type "PER" but for some reason I get "PRE" on command line. Now I know
my typing isn't the greatest but this occurs every time. Did a bit of
investigating and realised when I type the first "P" it doesn't appear on
the command line straight away. If I move the mouse then it does. Or if I
continue typing PER it does, but because of the delay I think the R is
appearing on command line first. Very weird.
Tried with a few other snaps but same problem only happened when trying to
type "E" for "ENDPOINT"

"P" and "E" both work fine on a clean command prompt to start a new command.

This is all with dynamic mode turned off btw as I couldnt really get to
grips with that feature, but I tried it with it on and got same results.

I also opened a Word window and tried replicating the problem by typing the
same characters but was all ok there.
And put fresh batteries in wireless keyboard in case it was that 😉

If it helps I'm running LT2006 on WinXP Pro SP2, 2.66Ghz P4, 512MB RAM,
128MB ATI Radeon 9800 vid card.

TIA
Greg

What if you plug in the old-fashioned keyboard with a cord? Does it still do it then?

you may be on to something!
managed to track down a "traditional" keyboard and that seemed to work fine.

Guess I need to try newer drivers for my wireless model?

Still weird how it was working fine yesterday with LT2005, and seems ok with
other programs on my PC :s

thanks for your help

Perhaps your wireless receiver is experiencing interference? Where is it located?

Or your keyboard needs new batteries?

the receiver is in close, unobstructed proximity, and I've replaced the
batteries with fresh ones.

just discovered weird behaviour with the "@" key as well.
Gonna try to explain this, hope i make myself clear ><
If I'm using @ within a command the (e.g to determine the second point pf a
line) the "@" doesn't appear on command line until i release the "shift"
key.
I press: SHIFT (hold down) + "@" but the @ doesn't appear on screen until I
release SHIFT.
However @ works normally if i try it when i've just got the Command: prompt.
Just tried it within some other commands; fine within MOVE but same prblem
within COPY.

It's a bugger this one, got me stumped 😞

Would your wireless keyboard be a Microsoft product? That's a piece of junk
IMHO, speaking from personal experience 🙂
