Setting a default printer

Does anyone know of a way to set a default printer and settings so that I don't have select a printer and settings (EG Printer (specific Network printer), Plot style table (monochrome), Plot area (extents), Plot offset (center the plot))?
The files are read only so I cannot save any settings with the file.

Are you able to download these drawings? If you already have them downloaded you could just go into windows explorer and unrestrict them.

Yes I could download them. What does that get me? The files are currently in a controlled (read only) folder.

If I need to open the file later and print it again, it should always be done from the controlled file to ensure I have the latest file. You know that whole document control issue. This is important since we build medical products.

plot settings are saved per file, not per system.

You will have to customize with a script file or toolbar
button macro using -PLOT command for every variation of a
plot you would ever need is one way to do this.

If using an AutoCAD product ("Full" AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT or DWG TrueVIew), , what we have done is put a copy of our [AutoCAD] "Plotters", "Plotters/PMP Files" and "Plot Styles" folders in 'publicly' available folder on our network. For of our users, utilizing DWG True for example, configure the Options\Files portions to point to these folders. This way, when a non-autocad user (a True Vview users in this case) open a drawing, they simply plot with the drawings default plotter and styles -

Dean,
Thanks for your help. I have tried to create the macro or script but I could not find commands for the sub items under the plot.
How do I create a Macro or script to choose the choices
1. under the plot/print, menu "plot device"
a) choose the plotter
b) plot style table (I want monochrome)
2. under the plot/print, menu "plot settings"
a) plot area "extents"
b) plot offset "center the plot"
