saving drawings

have just loaded 2010 LT onto my new computer with windows 7. I try to save a drawing but get "you do not have permission to save to this location. contact your adminstrator to obtain permission"

can anyone help?

Welcome to the forums.

I don't have Windows 7 here, but that sounds like you need to run it as an administrator.

Where you are trying to save a drawing? Local drive or network location?
Are you able to save files to your Documents folder?
What if you start AutoCAD as Administrator?

Administrator is an Account thru Windows. It may be your name is the Account but if you are the sole user of the machine you should have and be an Administrator of your computer.

A test: save your file to the Desktop, does it work?
Another test: create a folder under the C: drive, call it TEST, then try and save an AutoCAD file to it. Does it work?

Explore this, a Win7 quirk, it may apply to you:
