Problems Creating Hatch

I have been trying to create a hatch for a few hours. I don't know much about it but I found some tutorials but I'm stumped.

I have tried several things but I have got no where. If anyone can give me some advice that would be great. I have attached a dwg of what I want but I did not attach the .pat file. Cause it doesn't really work at all.

Let me know if someone can help

Thanks a ton!

Creating a hatch pattern can only done manually by programming and you
probably have to be very keen to do it. You can purchase some add-on
software that will turn AutoCAD geometry into a PAT file though.

Thanks for the reply!

Yeah, I know it can only be done by programming, and you are correct. I'm not real keen on the idea, but I thought this one was simple enough to give it a try.

I was hoping someone might be able to give me a hand.

Thanks for the response!

www.google.com, www.cadalyst.com, and www.hatchpatterns.com are good places
to just find what you seek and use it, free or low cost.

I have a related question.

I bought a stand-alone hatch program to create hatches easily. It creates .pat files, which I am then supposed to save wherever the "search path" looks for them.

Problem is, I can't figure out where that is. The AutoCad Help file says "Displays a list of custom PAT files that you have added to the search path, which is set in the Options dialog box, Files tab."

OK, I get that. But when I looked in the Options dialog box, I couldn't find any path that was for hatch patterns.

Do I create one, or is it called something else?

Thanks!

I'm sorry, I figured it out. I just added a path under Support Files.

Have a nice day!

Custom hatch pattern files are stored under your Windows user profile. Copy your PAT file here:
C:\Documents and Settings\YOURUSERNAMEHERE\Application Data\Autodesk\AutoCAD LT 2008\R13\enu\Support
Or in the address bar of Windows Explorer:
%USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Autodesk\AutoCAD LT 2008\R13\enu\Support

Note these are LT version dependent, yours may vary.
Also, this path is already in your LT list of support paths.

If your networked, save the PAT file to a share and create a BAT file to copy the PAT file local.
Use the %USERPROFILE% environment variable and the batch file works for everyone (of the same LT version).

When you hatch, click the Custom tab on the Hatch Pattern Palette dialog box. Your PAT file should be listed here.
Add it to a tool palette if you use it often enough.

I copy/pasted your design straight into HatchKit, scaled to 2'-0" and saved
to the attached .PAT file. (Remove the .TXT filename extension to regain the
.PAT extension).

Here are some further sites offering hatch pattern collections:

Thanks so much for your help. That hatch worked great. I thought that I would be able to write my own hatch but I think that one was a bit complicated to try for the first time.

Thanks again for your hatch! I will take a look at hatchkit.
