Problems appearing since recent LT14 patch/service pack

Inferencing only works intermitantly since applying the patch/service pack, if I draw a line and try to inference the endpoint relative to another existing line it doesn't work, as in no inferencing.

And F8 Ortho On doesn't stick. With it on, if I start a line, it has no horizontal or vertical constraint. I have to turn F8 off then back on, then I get the constraints.

These woes only appeared after the patch/service pack.

No troubles in LT13.

Thanks for the heads up.

Uninstall the SP if your previous install worked as you needed.

Hi

Thanks

Hi Sergio,

I do not have the knowledge needed to record a video of a program in use.

My apologies.

Hi,

No problem. Could you please describe step-by-step the procedure you follow to replicate the issue?

Thanks

Hi Sergio,

Regarding the Inferencing issue: I draw a vertical line segment. Then adjacent to it start another lline segment, click Ortho On, but before clicking the end of the second line I hover over the endpoint of the first line to get an inferencing line so that the endpoint of the second line will end horizontally from the endpoint of the first line. But there is no dashed inferencing line appearing, nothing.

This process works in LT 2013, and did work in LT 2014, but not after the update/patch.

Regarding the Ortho On issue: I tap F8 to turn Ortho On. type L for line, click the startpoint for the line, but the line is not constrained horizontally or vertically. It rotates freely. So I tap F8 again which turns Ortho off, tap it a third time which turns it back on, then the line has vertical and horizontal constraint.

This issue shows up in other commands too such as Move, when using grips, etc. This issue is also fickle...meaning sometimes it works fine, other times not, in the same drawing.

In the meantime I've gone back to using LT 13.

Thanks for your interest.

Regarding the first issue: Did you make sure that OTRACK was on after the Patch was applied?

And sorry to ask but do you see Ortho On in the Command line when you hit F8?

Message 9 of 13

Hi Charles,

OTRACK isn't recognized by my version of LT14..."Unknown command "OTRACK. Press F1 for help".

Yes when I ap F8 it comes up in the command line and the Icon lights up.

"otrack" = Object Snap Tracking, toggled with F11 beyboard button. It's also a checkbox if you start OSNAP command.
AND as a button to click, AutoCAD program window lower left: it sits with all the other buttons like DYN etc.
Message 11 of 13

Hi,

If the Object Tracking is not working it means that there could be a possible corruption in the AutoCAD LT installation. I would suggest to :

Please let me know something

Thanks

The OP is correct that if you type OTRACK at the Command Line AutoCAD will return that it is an unknown Command.

The button must be clicked in the Tray or checked as DEan indicated to turn this feature on.

Dean, Charles, Sergio,

The F11 toggle was it.

I had set all those options in the Tools>Drafting Settings>Object Snap box but evidently it didn't activate/work/settings stick, etc.

But taping the F11 key did work.

Thanks much.
