Problem with HATCH

Somehow I can not define the boundary of a simple square. I'm using LT '07. It's a all closed in simple square and when I go to pick the internal point it can't find the boundary and chooses the whole drawing, ideas?

select the boundary instead and see what AutoCAD says about it.

Also, make sure you can see the entire boundary of what you are hatching. Sometimes AutoCAD can't recognize the boundary if it is not within view of the screen.

I've also noticed that it won't hatch large areas enclosed by a polyline. I often have to break up a length of wall and hatch it in two portions.

Turning off as many not-needed layers as possible overcomes your
second sentence issue usually.

Yes, I've found that it can get confused by too many other things
intersecting with your boundary. Turning off extra layers seemed to cure
that.
