Pline within a macro

How can I make a macro which

1. Let user to define a polyline.(Polyline must have as many points as user
want to)
2. Offset this polyline 50 units to side that user wants to.

I have tried this.

^C^C_pline;\\\\\\\ offset;50;@;\

Problem is that I have to define the number of polyline segments in advance
(in this case 7).

Is there a smarter way to define the polyline?

nope, that's it, unless you want to create more than one macro (a
separate for the offset).
