opening a ac$ temporary autocad file

My program decided to just shut down. (Autocadlt2000i) It asked me if I wanted to save it. I said yes. It saved it as an AC$ file. I don't know how to open this file though. I tried renaming it as a dwg file but that did not work. Is there a way to open it?????

Answering 'yes' to the "Do you want to save..." query results in a new .dwg
file, *not* an .ac$ file. The .ac$ extension is used by AutoCAD for
temporary files, which are generally useless in a recovery operation. If you
can't open the .dwg file, then look for either .bak or .sv$ (the AutoSave
extension); rename it to something.dwg, then open that.

Where would a "yes" to the "do you want to save" be saved at. Would it be saved with my other drawings. All I can find with the date and time is the ac$ file. Any advice on how I can find the save that I requested?

Look for *.bk* files also.

1st * is your file's name

2nd* is usually a number

In the original file location. If AutoCAD crashed before completing the
save, then you may have to resort to a .bak, .bk, or .sv$ file.
