Modify the "Select File" dialog box

AutoCad LT 2011.  In the Select File dialog box, I can modify the column widths and I can change the column content.  For example, I can delete the "date" column and add a "date modified" column.  But, I haven't found a way to save the settings that I prefer to have each time the dialog box opens.  Can anyone tell me how to save the settings as the default dialog box?

Windows version?

Are you logged into Windows as local administrator or full administrator?

It's just one workstation. I can log in as either.

Windows version? There is something preventing your Windows Registry from being written/updated, not much to fix inside AutoCAD itself.

Only LT2014 is supported in Windows 8 (may or may not cure your problem, download and test with the trial version to confirm if it's a program problem or a Windows Registry problem): http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=19048377&linkID=9240617
