LT 2011 hangs

my autocad lt 2011 installation doesn't start up anymore.

it halts at 39% whilst reading the template acadltiso.dwt.

when removing that template from it's origin, autocad starts,

but can't load any template or dwg or accept any changes in

the settings (hangs after pressing OK).

i had visualstudio 2011beta installed, aswell as .net4.5beta and

now uninstalled them as i've read about problems with autocadlt

and that framework. => no change of problems

i don't know, when this problem actually started as i use lt sparsely.

it was yesterday i recognised that something  is wrong.

uninstalling and reinstalling didn't help.

clearing the registry from autocadlt-content didn't help.

i can't use the product and need help!

thx in advance,

martin.

So LT starts and you can open documents if it does not preload your template file at startup first? Then it would appear your template file is corrupt, especially if this suddenly started after a template edit.

Describe in more detail how you start LT with your template.

AFAIK the only way to fix a .NET installation is to remove all versions from your PC, edit the registry to remove any references, restart your PC then reinstall only the .NET versions needed by your programs.

unfortunately i can't open any drawing nor template.

LT is only startable if i remove all the templates. but still,

there's no way to open any document that i could open

3-4 weeks ago.

what i do is:

-remove all templates from C:\Users\me\AppData\Local\Autodesk\AutoCAD LT 2011\R16\enu\Template

-start autocad lt =>works

now it hangs if I:

-open any docoument

-open any template

-try to put a text into the drawing

what could be causing this?

-the new graphic card and its driver? (can't revert)

-some update by microsoft via windows update(can't restore, since i don't know to which point/date)?

autocad lt is the only program to have problems on this computer:

win7, 64bit, autocad lt 2011, microsoft security essentials

how can i produce any logfile?

thx for answering,

/martin.

Hi,

I'm convinced that this is related a wrong setup of the .NET framework components (as pendean said).

Please unsistall completely AutoCAD LT, unisntall all .NET components on your system and reinstall AutoCAD LT. This should fix all problems.

You wrote:

Have you followed any of the advice provided to remove this file permanently and use a stock LT template instead?

Message 7 of 13

may i ask what "stock LT template" is?

anyhow, having reinstalled autocad LT completely new, templates should not be the problem,

as it worked before after the first installation.

Stock LT Template: a startup file (DWT or DWG) that you have never touched to edited, found in LT2011 when you first install it out-of-the-box.

thank you charles,

i followed the advices thouroughly and:

i still doesn't work. stuck at 39%

seems hopeless..and i need autocad urgently for the current project.

thx, /martin.

Usually I read that a Format of the hard drive is called for at this point.

Hi all,

I've been in contact with Martin, and at the end the problem was solved after monitorize all that was happening with AutoCAD LT 2011 (process monitor (microsoft+Sysinternals) and the problem was localized when AutoCAD LT was trying to load a file from the Windows fonts folder (local.conf).  After remove this file the problem was solved.

c:\Windows\Fonts\local.conf

Notice that this file is hided on the system.
