Could be a numerous amont of reasons, let's try and narrow it down...
Can you explain more in detail what it is your trying to freeze, what kind of drawing.
Do you get any notifications from Autocad when you try to freeze?
Are the objects your clicking nested?
Is the objects maybe AEC?
Have you checked so that the layer isn't locked?
