INTERNAL ERROR: !dbobji.cpp@6769: eNotOpenForWrite

Hi Everyone,

I am running AutoCAD LT 2008 on Windows Vista. I am unable to load one of my working files -- when I try to open it I get the following error message:

INTERNAL ERROR: !dbobji.cpp@6769: eNotOpenForWrite

and AutoCAD closes. When I try to RECOVER the drawing, I get a message that the audit accepted the recovered database, but then the program fails with the same error message as above. I have also tried opening a new drawing and INSERTing the problem drawing as a block -- same result. Can anybody help? Thanks in advance!

Most likely it is lost: post it if you can for someone to try.

My file seems to be too large to post. It is roughly 12 MB -- is that excessively large for an AutoCAD file? The file is a plan for a residential addition -- it doesn't seem like the level of complexity on the project should be taxing for a program like AutoCAD. I noticed in the days leading up to this problem that the file was taking much longer to save & load, though the plan had not become significantly more complex during that time. Does anybody have any idea what might have been going wrong?

ZIP IT!

(I mean compress it in a zip file)

Yes, tried that. The zipped size is about 10mb -- still won't post.

You might hit a meg on an addition, well unless its about $10 million.

Scalelist getting big? Layer filters?

You may want to insert this drawning into a new template/drawing.

Dean left a good way to do this a couple of days ago for another poster. If I find it I'll post back.

Sounds terminal. Does the free dwg viewer open it?

If you can't get anyone to try and open it with another program, you
could send it to me and I will try with our CAD/CAM man, or the
StudioMax man. simon dot bayley at taskdisplays dot co dot uk.

Thanks Simon -- I appreciate the offer. I think that you and others are correct in concluding that the file is a lost cause. This morning I was able to revive a backup version from a few days ago. I ran the SCALELISTEDIT, PURGE, and AUDIT commands on that version and then WBLOCK'd the entire drawing and INSERTed it into a new file. The result was a file of about a 10th the size. I lost a couple days' work, but I'd rather that than lose the whole file! 🙂 Thanks everybody for all your help.

I Still use a 2008 AutoCAD version and recently i've obtained very good results using TRUEVIEW 2012 converting the file to 2007 DWG version.:smileyhappy 🙂
