Inserting OLE object

When I try to insert a .bmp image all I see is a white box with the bmp file name at the bottom. Here's how I'm trying to insert the image. From the insert menu, OLE object, Create from file, and I would browse to image, the same thing happens if I have the Link or display as icon selected or not. I've also tried to use the convert option to no avail. My setting for olehide is 0. This used to work fine. I wonder of something may have been toggled

Open your image in a graphics program, then select ALL or whatever it
is you want to grab from it.
Open LT, paste.

I've tried different ways of cutting, pasting and coping but get the same result. The program I use is Paint which has worked in the past, but not now.

Does it work if you cut/paste into another program from
Paint?

Yes, I can cut and paste the same image into WordPerfect from paint without any problems. I've even tried to repair AutoCAD and then removed and reinstalled it and had the same result. I am current with service packs etc...

I use Win ME and Office 2000, where copy and paste in Office is a different clipboard than Windows. So if you don't get any sucess with paint etc. you're better off using an Office application which appears to work more sucessfully with AutoCAD

In your OPTIONS on the USER PREFERENCES tab do you have the 'Windows
standard accelerator keys' checked off?

Nope, it's on.

We've been through all this recently with a different post.

Standard Copy and Paste shortcuts seems to work differently depending on your system setup.

Did you get this issue resolved? I am having the same problem with a new system in my office. I can insert OLE objects and they display and print fine. However; on the new system we just get the white box with file name. Both systems are using LT 2014.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks ...

Check your process/procedure: a white box with a name usually means it's not a supported file format for that procedure.

I have used the same proceedure, as stated the one system works fine. We are inserting bmp files which evidently is a supported file format. It is just tedious to me (since I have to insert all bmp files) because my system can and the other system can't.

Any further input would be appreciated.

Thanks ...

Open AutoCAD.
Drag/drop your BMP file from WIndows Explorer into the open AutoCAD file and let go. A supported file will present itself for scalng nd insertion.

How to use INSERTOBJ command overview:
- In AutoCAD, run the INSERTOBJ command.
- Choose "Create From File", then browse and select the BMP file
- Select Link, then OK. Ensure DISPLAY AS ICON is not checked.
