Importing true type fonts

I want to use a true type font on my CAD template. I have copied the file and saved it in the fonts folder (path x64/acadlt/windows/fonts), however in CAD when i try to select the font it is not available on the list

Any ideas of what is the problem?

Well, ya can't just copy the TTF files to the fonts folder.  Ya gotta install them on your box thru windows.

Assumption: Windows 7

Find your font that is not in your fonts folder and right click and select Install.  That should get it for you.

Thanks

It is installed correctly but makes no difference

Message 4 of 15

It needs to be in the Win 7 Fonts folder.

C:\Windows\Fonts

It is installed in the Win 7 fonts folder but is still not available for selection in CAD

Have you Closed and Opened CAD since installing the Font?

Or maybe try rebooting? (Unlikely this would make a difference)

You could add the Windows Font folder to the Support File Search Path for CAD which should force it and all the TTF files to the list.

BTW - Do you have see other TTF Fonts in the Font Name list when using the Text Style editor?

That's the wrong path for Windows fonts. Period.

Are these fonts available in other programs on your PC?

Are the TTFs or Open Type Fonts?

your LT version?

Which path?

The one I suggested or the OP's path in the first post?

Good catch,Dean.

Apparently the OP did not install the fonts but rather just copied them to a folder. The install would have put them in the correct path.

The OP needs to INSTALL the fonts.

It would help if you started answering questions...

LT version you use is??

Windows version?

Are these TTFs or Open Type Fonts? Or postscript fonts? Do you know?

If not, say so, don't just ingore questions being asked.

Hi,

I am having a similar problem to the originator of this thread.   To answer some of the questions asked previously, I am on Windows 7 professional. I am using Autocad LT 2016.  The font is a TTF and it is installed on the operating system. If I didn't answer something let me know and I'll try to provide the answer.  Thanks for your help!

Not all types of TTF fonts are supported with AutoCAD: can you use this font in MSWord for example or anywhere else on your PC?

Yes I can use them in microsoft word.  To be clear, the font types show up in the "Style" box but the fonts are not displayed correctly.  The actually show up very similar to the "AECCLAND" font.

We are in the process of switching from Microstation to AutoCAD and as one of the first measures I am trying to convert our titleblock with contains these custom fonts.

Thanks!

Although this post originated some time ago I just found a potential solution on another post.

FONTMAP command: make sure you set it to not show a substitution for your
font style. HELP can explain usage. Also check-out FONTALT.

This worked for me.
